So, you want to discover your ability to Unicycle?
Here are 7 things you should know:
1. Now, when you arrive at our rink the first thing you will notice (other than our dreamy playlist) is how much help is on hand to make sure you succeed. There are many people who know exactly what it’s like to get started – you will learn the secrets (and the fundamental principles) and you will be given the chance to develop your skills. All in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
2. Guess what? You can learn to zip around on a unicycle.. without having your own unicycle!
3. Here is something many beginners forget – and you never want to forget this: keep your head up! Stop looking down! It is almost overwhelmingly tempting to look down at the cycle when you’re starting to ride, but remember.. when you were a baby you didn’t look down at your feet to learn to walk did you? You keep your head up, and your eyes on the prize… You go where you look.. (at least, when you’re first starting out).. so don’t look down. Keep your head up!
4. You are absolutely, definitely, totally guaranteed NOT to be the only learner. There will be others just like you. Everybody is a learner, just at different levels.. you will be sure to see our experienced riders constantly trying new things they cannot do, and practicing new skills. And feel free to ask what they’re up to.
5. As soon as you can ride around hands-free, you are open to playing many new games you (probably) never considered before. We play many challenges and games and are always looking to improve our skills and have more fun. Once you have learned to stay up, everything changes for you!
6. Just in case you are wondering, anyone (anyone) can learn to unicycle, anyone between let’s say age 4 and 400. Learning to unicycle is a fun challenge for any person at any age – and that goes for unicycle hockey too. Our club and sport are for girls and boys, men and women, and people of all ages and ability levels – anyone can join!
7. There is no number 7. That was a trick. You know everything you need to know. Now it is time to get on a unicycle and get riding. See you soon! 🙂
